A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Dec. 7th, 2007 05:14 pmStopped off at Thinkwell this blustery morning to pick up a stack of treatments and project materials so I can spend the weekend getting up to speed. It's a great team of folks, very energetic, open, and professional. I'm quite humbled and super excited.
Headed into rainy, overcast Burbank for lunch with
garycotti and
zodmicrobe for lunch at Hooters (what??), then we all went to see THE MIST. Holy crap, what a great horror movie (sorry
kingfuraday, I completely disagree with you on this one). Sure, the CG's a bit low-rent in spots, but I give that a pass because everything still worked, it was very effective and disturbing and scary as hell. I wasn't prepared for the very ballsy, very dark ending -- one of the few horror movies to ever make me cry. I'm a huge fan of the book, but I think its original ending would have felt like a cop-out, cinematically -- what was ominous and dark on the page would have felt incomplete and too open-ended on the screen.
Now, it's off to see the Spice Girls! Wheeeee!
