MAGIC NIGHT
Feb. 20th, 2007 12:12 amWatched both The Prestige and The Illusionist tonight.
The former is tense and fun, a tad long but with a satisfying ending that ties up the twisty storylines of obsession, secrecy, and sacrifice. It feels a lot like Nolan's other films, very well-made popcorn (has anyone read the book? I'm intrigued). The latter was more of a "how's-he-going-to-get-the-girl" love story, and a bit more on the melodramatic side, but it was gorgeous to look at and it left the magic aspect much more open-ended and mysterious.
Both very different, and both worth seeing. Hard to say which I liked better, as I enjoyed both of them a lot -- but I'd probably give the edge to The Prestige.
And OMG, a guy we know just won $211,000 on Deal or No Deal! And he made his parents cry on TV! And he clogged and sang karaoke to Britney Spears!
