BEACH BUMMED
Jul. 31st, 2006 04:28 pmWeekend was nice -- started out on Friday night at
moroccomole's new "midnight movie" series at the Lammle, which kicked off in grand queer style with Cruising. I'd never seen it, and found it equal parts entertaining and terrible. I can see why, at the time, gay groups were so up in arms about it -- but these days, I found nothing really offensive about it. It's definitely a time capsule. And watching Al Pacino dance was worth the ticket price alone.
Met a couple of new LJ people at the theater on Friday night, including
burlyinthebay, and we met up for lunch and a stroll on Santa Monica beach on Sunday afternoon. Being in his neighborhood made me long for living near the ocean again (I lived in Dana Point every summer as a teenager), but then realized a run-down, one-bedroom 1920s fixer-upper bungalow in between 4th and 5th goes for a cool million-plus, and my longing turned to mild disgust.
