1959?

A late-Christmas/early-Birthday present from my brother arrived in my email inbox, a digitally-restored photo of our father circa 1958.

The original photo was badly water-damaged and torn; while I certainly know what Photoshop is capable of, you really don't appreciate it until you see something that impacts you the way this photo did once it had been fixed.

Looks like dad's ready to roll in his sweet new ride... the "NU58" plate isn't an actual license plate, it's a decorative one that dad made to commemorate his graduation from Norwich University in 1958. So, this photo is probably a year or two later, he's about 23, has yet to join the Navy or meet my mother, and I wouldn't come along for at least another decade.
