THE WALT DISNEY FAMILY MUSEUM

Took an impromptu (and far too short) trip to The Walt Disney Family Museum at the Presidio in San Francisco today.
The exhibitry, interactives & environments were designed by the Rockwell Group, and all of it is really wonderful. The depth of content is staggering and thoughtfully presented, both in terms of completeness of the historical timeline, and interesting grouping of categories and topics. As a fan, I was in heaven -- but it's also presented in a very straightforward, human way, with some really elegant displays, great use of clever media, and unique interactive presentations. My pal Phil who went along with me isn't a big Disney nerd like me, and also liked it quite a lot.
No photography allowed inside (some good photos at the Rockwell link above), but I did manage to sneak this one photo of me sitting on one of the benches that used to be in Griffith Park in Los Angeles -- this is where Walt sat watching his daughters riding the carousel, and dreamed up the idea for Disneyland.
It was incredibly inspiring and moving. I only spent two hours, but I could have spent another four or five digging through every exhibit and every detail. I will most definitely return.
