Just tried an iPad at BestBuy (and they're in stock with no lines, go there if you want one). Very neat! It's a gorgeous, intimate, close-up browsing/viewing/gaming experience that's just not equalled by the iPhone or a laptop. It's cozy and personal. I get it, I really do.
I could probably use it for Keynote quite a bit -- it's a great way to manipulate images, and presentation decks don't use a lot of text, so typing is minimal. But Pages was kind of a joke without a physical keyboard. Two-handed touch typing was a chore, with tons of errors. Personally, I don't really see the on-screen keyboard being viable beyond (barely) a sentence or two.
Strangely, it also doesn't play the videos on my website -- which are QuickTime (a Mac product), created on a Mac, posted via Apple iWeb, and hosted on Apple Me.com servers.
That's not necessarily a deal-breaker for me, just an eyebrow-raiser. It'll probably be addressed in software updates, I'm sure. But it's one of a few reasons that it's not for me. Yet. In time, perhaps.
UPDATE MONDAY 4/5: I just spent 45 minutes with one at work. My website videos work just fine -- must have been a faulty unit at BestBuy. Opinion slightly raised. :)
