But lo and behold, music writer Carl Wilson's clever and well-researched journey into what makes the Brand Named Celine tick is an unexpected joy to read, a cathartic and exhaustively researched look at the nature (and perception) of good and bad taste, and a sober and refreshing take on the purpose of criticism in this post-critical, everyone's-a-critic-on-the-internet age.
It's easily one of the most entertaining reads I've had in years. Honest, folks -- this book is very much worth your time if you have any interest in pop music whatsoever. Love or hate Celine -- it doesn't matter, you'll totally dig this book. Check out the reviews and you'll be as intrigued as I was.
