One of my co-workers had jury duty last week, and during one of his lunchtime meanderings around Downtown LA, happened upon a street artist selling his wares. This one jumped out as one my co-worker thought I'd appreciate, so he bought it for me as an early Christmas present. Yay!

FANTASTIC

I loved this movie. Charming, smart, and beautiful.

I read the book a couple of times as a kid and loved it, but to be honest, the trailer for the film left me cold. I didn't quite "get" the look of the animation, and overall I was just sort of turned off by it. Boy, I'm glad I listened to all of my friends who liked the film and encouraged me to see it -- it's one of my favorite movies of the year.

I will say that the animation style took a little while to get used to. I found myself distracted by it for the first ten minutes or so... but then, the voice performances and script completely won me over, and the quirky (and sometimes purposefully jokey) animation style became quite charming and enthralling.
