GAYEST. WEEKEND. EVER.
Oct. 5th, 2009 03:14 pmHad a fabulous and exhausting weekend at the Disneyland Resort for Gay Days.
Stayed across from the park with
raybearly and had my family along in tow as we commingled with dozens of online and real-world pals for our yearly carousing through both parks; too many people to mention, but thank you all for making Gay Days the awesome romp that it is, you know who you are.
As if two days in red shirts at Disneyland wasn't gay enough, we went to see Kylie Minogue in concert at the Hollywood Bowl. She looked incredible, sounded wonderful, and seemed to effortlessly put on a really fun, flirty, sexy, visually stunning show (and oh yeah, did I mention she's forty-two and beat breast cancer? You're welcome. Amazing.)
Check out the movie below to watch
weebull,
animbear and
redbeardedblond hollering aboard the Matterhorn, or another video taken from our fifth row seats at the Kylie show. Also, click here to see a handful of photos from both Disney and Kylie.

SHINE GALLERY

At the SHINE GALLERY, they specialize in "quantity items from bygone eras in unused condition." But this is no typical junk shop.
Everything for sale in this store is authentic and vintage, usually in brand-new, never-used condition. They find toys, collectibles, and memorabilia from the 1910s through the 1950s -- usually in bulk, presumably lost in some warehouse decades ago -- and it's all the real deal.
I was simply amazed at not only the incredible condition and unique scope of the collection -- but also at the quantity of things. They've got bins filled with stuff that probably hasn't seen the light of day in three or four decades -- in enough quantities that they can sell them for fairly reasonable prices.
It's really incredible to see some piece of memorabilia that, on its own, might fetch fifty or a hundred bucks from a collector, but because Shine Gallery has a whole lot of them, can be sold for five or ten bucks. I can't imagine how long this collection has taken to assemble and turn into an actual business -- the place feels like a total labor of love, like they got the idea for it thirty or forty years ago and have slowly amassed enough stuff to turn into a storefront. It's really something special.
