QUANTUM-Y!
Dec. 1st, 2008 10:09 pmThe new Bond was tons of fun. Craig eases into this one like a new Tom Ford suit, the cast is uniformly great, and the story moves along at an intriguing clip. Didn't care for the title song very much, and although thematically correct, the "desert sands" motif of the opening credit sequence didn't hold up compared to the awesome "card-liedesope" design of the one from Casino Royale.
Aside from the ongoing eye-candy of punching and kicking and ka-booming, there's another visceral pleasure the film has to offer -- an unending stream of scene-after-scene, clutch-the-pearls design porn. From the fabulous fonts that introduce each new globetrotting locale, to the sexy tabletop touch-display at M6 HQ, to the bombastic-yet-icy-cold Tosca opera set, to the unbearably-sleek-even-when-exploding desert hotel in the third act, there was a gay gasp at every turn. Brava!
