THE SIMPSON

Spent the last two days meeting with ride vendors at the 2008 Euro Attraction Show in Munich. It's a bit like the IAAPA convention I always go to in November, but more focused specifically on ride hardware and dealmaking.

In addition to some of the high-tech, big-steel companies that we were meeting with, these shows are also filled with tons of kiddie-ride crap like the truck you see here. Be sure to click through and look at the beauty of the full-size photo, to appreciate the fantastic, unlicensed use of "The Simpson" (singular!), and the incredible airbrush job that makes Bart look completely baked. It even played the theme song as it rocked back and forth -- seemingly gakked directly from a videotape of the show's opening, because it had all the opening-credit sound effects intact too.

We finished up the show early today, so me and the team headed to BMW again to take our time and explore the place -- I had seen the original museum way back in 1987, but it recently got a major high-tech overhaul and re-opened this June, with some truly stunning exhibits and multimedia design about the history of BMW. Next door is also the equally stunning new BMW Welt center, opened in October 2007, which is sort of an über-showroom with some really incredible exhibits and displays about the current BMW line -- and if you buy a car, they have a very theatrical "premiere" delivery for you, and you drive it right out of the building (watch the video). There's also a two-and-a-half hour factory tour, which I'll definitely have to make time for next time I'm in town.

Heading home in the morning, back in LA by Thursday night.
