davecobb: (Tron Jeff Bridges)
Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] polaris_a for sending me this announcement in the Hollywood Reporter:

Commercial director Joseph Kosinski is in final negotiations to develop and direct "Tron," described as "the next chapter" of Disney's 1982 cult classic. Sean Bailey is producing via the Live Planet banner, as is Steven Lisberger, who co-wrote and directed the original film.

Kosinski, who last month signed on to helm the remake of "Logan's Run" for Warner Bros. Pictures, will oversee the visual development of the project and have input on the script, which is being written by "Lost" scribes Eddie Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. Story details are being kept secret.

I'm excited that Lisberger is involved, and Kosinski's commercial work is pretty amazing.

But seeing this is the third time an announcement has been made, I'll believe it when I see the trailer. :)

This is turning out to be the week of unexpected pals showing up on the lot.

First, I ran into my pal Neville Page -- he's an illustrator who worked for me about nine years ago developing the vehicles, weapons, and alien characters for Men In Black: Alien Attack. Seems he's here designing creatures for the new Star Trek and that mysterious "Cloverfield" for J.J. Abrams (!).

Second, I found out that another friend is interviewing for a permanent position across the lot. Hurray for gossipy lunches!

And lastly, [livejournal.com profile] bobaloo sent me a text message that he's an extra on Monk today, shooting on the backlot.

UPDATE @ 1PM: just had lunch with [livejournal.com profile] bobaloo, and who should stop by and say howdy after a screening here on the lot, but [livejournal.com profile] moroccomole.

Anyone else? :)
