DOMESTICITY
Aug. 5th, 2007 01:32 pmFriday night I laid down for a "nap" at 5:30pm, and ended up sleeping through until 10am Saturday morning. Guess I needed it.
With all that newfound energy, I did the dishes and then cleaned the living room carpets all day Saturday afternoon. I highly recommend the Bissell ProHeat 2X Turbo that we picked up on a whim at Costco a few months ago for around two hundred bucks, thinking that it would eventually pay for itself when compared to renting or pro cleaning. It works great, better than any of the rental pieces of crap we've used, and much better, actually, than the pro "brushless" types that we've hired in the past.
We had a few folks over on Saturday night to watch the perennially-awful Glitter, augmented and improved by the very hilarious Rifftrax commentary. For the uninformed, these are downloadable, snarky secondary-audio tracks to movies from the MST3K guys (Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, Mary Jo Pehl, etc.) -- but instead of doing old movies, they're doing newer favorites (and bad ones too). The idea is, you put on the regular movie DVD, you play their MP3 audio track along with it on another source (laptop, boom box, etc.), and voila, instant snark-fest (the sync instructions are very easy, and work quite well -- or, you can use Sharecrow if you watch movies on your computer). So far I've seen The Matrix and Glitter this way, and both were hilarious. Well worth the three-buck download.

keanubear also arrived yesterday for a short visit, playing a gig tonight at The Joint.

xxtapemakerxx this morning, John headed off to pick up his bassist at LAX and then head off to his gig. I've decided to stay in and be domestic, as there is a pile of laundry to be conquered (we call him Laundry the Hutt), as well as a broken bed to be repaired. Get your head out of the gutter. It's a cheap IKEA bed that broke from nothing more than my fat ass sleeping in it.
