My entries in
aairplane's proposed "
Grindhouse Trailer Meme" are a bit different. While I
did see my share of bad horror and exploitation movies in my teens, my first real memories of the "cheapo" movies were much earlier, at weekend matinees when they'd show all those weird "family" films from
Sun Classic Pictures.
They used to advertise them like CRAZY on Saturday morning TV in the 70s, and I'd end up spending entire Saturday afternoons at the UA Cinemas in North Hollywood watching them. Some were docu-dramas, some were about unexplained phenomena, some were overtly religious... titles like
In Search of Noah's Ark and
Hangar 18 and
The Late Great Planet Earth and
The Bermuda Triangle.
Unfortunately, I could only find trailers for these two...
