THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING
Feb. 1st, 2007 04:24 pmA very good friend of mine, writer/director Dave DeVos, has submitted a film to be considered as a candidate for the new reality series from Mark Burnett and Steven Spielberg, "On The Lot". Based on submissions to the show's website, 16 filmmakers will be selected and will produce short films in every genre every week and viewers will vote on who gets eliminated. The winning filmmaker will take home a $1 Million development deal.
Dave and I were tour guides together at Universal back in the day, and have since worked together on numerous film and theme park projects. He's also a hard-working and devoted family man who has been toiling in the low end of the film business for a long time, humbly honing his craft -- not just waiting for his big break, but working for it.
The film he's submitted is a feel-good feature that he wrote and directed (and stars in) called "The Theory of Everything". It's a very sincere and sweet exploration of faith, science, and the nature of family -- and regardless of your beliefs or religious leanings, it's incredibly well-made for an independent film. I have an enormous amount of respect and admiration for his craft and dedication, and his talents absolutely deserve a chance to be discovered.
If you feel so inclined, you can check out Dave's trailer and vote for him to be part of the "On The Lot" reality show. The more five-star ratings his submission gets, the better chance he'll be picked for the show. Please note that you have to register with the site to vote (a good use for that old spam-tastic email address you don't use anymore!).
