I'm sure this is old hat to some of the New Yorkers and in-the-know theaterati out there, but a co-worker just got back from seeing Spring Awakening on Broadway and gave me the soundtrack and now I can't stop listening to it.

I asked him what the new musical was about, and he said, "It's about f**king." :)

I was already a fan of Duncan Sheik's pop albums, and of his film score for A Home at the End of the World, but I had no idea that he'd been writing stuff for theater, too.

Looks like there's already a ton of promotional clips from the show on YouTube, as well as a vast, teenage, "it's-the-new-Rent" fanbase blogging about it all over the place.

Wired News has posted a pretty awful/awesome run-down of some truly ugly gadgets on display at this year's Consumer Electronics Show, like this... um.... thing.

When I got home tonight, there was a small package waiting for me to open, sent by the sweet and adorable [livejournal.com profile] rckdjbear. Inside were some music and video goodies... for my birthday!

Two CDs: Ashley MacIsaac's Pride (I have his earlier celtic CDs, but I'm interested to hear this one), and The Aluminum Group's Plano (I'd never heard of them, but so far I like it, it's cool and poppy and loungy and fun!).

And, a bunch of home-brew DVDs: a TV movie from 1980 called Once Upon a Spy (which supposedly shot some scenes on Colossus at Magic Mountain??), some TV appearances of the Dixie Chicks (yay!), some bear porn (always thoughtful, the gift that keeps giving), a copy of The Ritz (out of print, and not on DVD yet -- YAY! I lost my tape copy years ago), and his own compilation of the Best of Arn Anderson (awesome)!

It was terribly thoughtful and totally unexpected. Thanks, Ricky! :)
