3D FILM FESTIVAL - SEPTEMBER 8-17 2006
Sep. 7th, 2006 12:23 pm
It's a fairly big deal, as most of the films are being shown with new/restored prints, or one-of-a-kind technicolor or 70mm prints. There are also quite a few rare or never-before-seen films and shorts, many of which haven't been shown before in the US (check the press release to see some of the highlights). And everything is in crisp, clear, double-interlocked polarized 3D, not anaglyphic (i.e. red/blue).
Many of the films I've seen before, as I'm a huge 3D nerd and there have been two previous 3D festivals here in LA in my lifetime. However, I'll be going to a few new ones this time around, as well as repeating some favorites.
Check the festival website to see trailers from some of the favorites that are on the schedule, such as HOUSE OF WAX, DIAL M FOR MURDER, CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON, and THE STEWARDESSES.
If there were one movie I'd recommend, it would be THE FRENCH LINE on Friday 9/15. It stars Jane Russell, with the poster tagline "J.R. in 3D - she'll knock BOTH your eyes out!" -- so you know it has to be awesome.
Tickets can be purchased on the web -- and if their last festival in 2003 is any indication, there will be a LOT of sold-out shows. The well-known favorites, the shorts/rarities, and the animation show almost always sell out.
If you want to join me, buy your tickets and let me know!
