I took piano lessons from age 9-17, and haven't had an instrument to play in the house since I moved into my first apartment around age nineteen. Lately, I've been jonesing to start playing music again -- just for fun, noodling in GarageBand and such -- and had been mulling over some MIDI keyboard options for the last couple of months.
Most of the stuff in my price range were crappy consumer units, usually not a full 88 keys, and usually only semi-weighted (or totally non-weighted) keys. I asked our audio guy at work for some suggestions, and he said that Fatar (now Studiologic) was his go-to line of keyboards, because they had the best touch and feel -- and then he promptly found me one on Craigslist that was a steal at only two hundred bucks.

fidgetcub was the awesomest hubby ever and went over to West LA to pick it up and haul it home for me... now all I need is a USB MIDI adapter and a sustain pedal and I'm in business. Yay!
